A while back I wrote a post about a coat I’m making for my brother’s friend Alex, and, because I know you are all dying to see the progress I’ve made on the coat, here is a little update.
When we last visited the coat I had made a muslin (rough draft) for Alex to try on so I could make sure I had the pattern perfected before I cut any of the expensive fashion fabric
Well I’ve sent the muslin to Boston and Alex had a fitting. As can be expected there were a few problems. Like for example, the hood was significantly too large.
Hey, how was I suppose to know that when Alex said he wanted his hood cloakish he didn’t mean he wanted to look like The Grim Reaper.
Not really, I made it big on purpose cause I didn’t really know what I was doing and I figure it’s easier to take things in than make them bigger—although I may have overdone it just a bit.
Well Alex has sent the muslin back to me and I’ve made a few changes, worked a little magic and now the coat looks like this:
Wait
For
It
TaDa!!!
Hey, it’s a work in progress—I never said it wasn’t. Give a girl some slack will ya? I’ve been off doing really important things like snowboarding in Tahoe.
But have no worries Alex, I promise to have this coat done just in time for summer….er um, wait that’s not right.
On the bright side you get a bonus.
Someone drooled on your hood!
I’m not going to name any names, but I’ll give you a hint.
She’s small, fuzzy, extremely lovable, and not so bright.
